I titled it I Am Brave simply because it was my very first attempt at a "real" face and I was in a moving car as I drew it. Turns out I don't hate it!
The background is Distress Stain and I drew with a Creative Memories photo labeling pencil...a super old one with the black at one end and white at the other. (I don't even know if they still sell these.) For a first attempt I think she is ok. If I were to rename her I'd probably call her Blank Stare LOL. Definitely need more work showing emotion, I suppose that would come with more detail and shading. I got a Stabilo All Pencil (the one Dina uses to draw most of her faces) we'll see if that helps any...
Thanks for stopping by! If you are so moved please leave a comment, they mean the world to me!!

what a great first drawing Dawn!!! I love Dina's art and personality too. Funny, I asked her if I got a stabilo pencil or two I'd be able to draw like her :) I recently got her book and am reading thru it before I play and I can't wait.Kepp up the good work.
Great first attempt. Taking that first step is hard...I hadn't drawn faces since high school art class and recently started again...including taking part in the 29 Faces Challenge, so I know where you're coming from. Dina's just released art journal book is wonderful.
I think your first face is great. There's something very wonderful about putting some eyes, a nose & a mouth together on paper. I especially like how you did it on previously painted paper, I think that takes some of the fear away & some very happy accidents occur. Looking forward to seeing some more.
Hi, Dawn! I love your brave lady. She is BEAUTIFUL and you are brave for trying something new! Now I bet you'll be drawing faces all the time!
Hi Dawn, sorry to leave this comment here but I have been trying to contact you about the Easter Tag swap that you signed up for but haven't heard back from you. I am sending my tag to you for the swap and need to get your mailing address. My email address is: tabithalenox at gmail dot com Could you please let me know if you are still signed up for the swap? Thanks, Kim
This is BEAUTIFUL. You are brave! I refuse to draw faces. I don't know why, it just feels super duper terrifying to me! Yours is beautiful, and I LOVE the background.
